Note regarding the NJ 50 hour of practice requirement:

Please do not let other driving schools trick you into thinking your son or daughter has to complete a 50 hour program with a driving school. The requirement, after obtaining a validated permit, is that the parents must certify that the student completed 50 hours of practice, 10 of which has to be at night, with a supervising driver (parent, guardian, anyone over 21 who has been licensed for 3 years and has a NJ Drivers license). This certification is submitted when the student goes in for his or her license after passing the road test. All 16 year old students must still pass the written exam an eye exam, and complete the 6 hour program with a licensed driving school, to obtain a validated permit. 17 year old students and older are not required to complete 6 hours but it is very much recommended .
